Call of Duty’s popular zombies mode returns in Black Ops III, and it’s surprisingly ambitious. It’s called Shadows of Evil, and not only has a full story, but it’s set in the 1940s and stars Jeff Goldblum, Heather Graham, Neal McDonough, Ron Perlman, and Robert Picardo. What?!

These new details were revealed at Comic-Con in San Diego today, where video games have continued to have more and more of a presence over the years.
Here’s how Treyarch describes Shadows of Evil, bundled with the game on November 6:
Call of Duty: Black Ops III: Zombies – Shadows of Evil drops players into a recognizable yet terrifyingly unfamiliar world, as they uncover the secrets and challenges laid out for them by a shadowy figure, who holds their fate in his hands. Set in a 1940’s film-noir era, Shadows of Evil introduces four unwitting characters – The Magician, The Femme-Fatale, The Cop and The Boxer – into an unraveling experience masterminded by the mysterious Shadow Man.

The trailer highlights a new mechanic involving eating candy, which can apparently grant players with special powers that includes tentacle-like arms straight out of The Darkness:

Players who buy the season pass will get access to The Giant, a remake of the popular zombies map Der Rise, starring Steve Blum, Tom Kane, Nolan North, and Fred Tatasciore. It also comes with the Hardened Edition and Digital Deluxe Edition.
Gotta admit, even though I haven’t missed with Call of Duty outside of the single player before, everything they’re building into Shadows of Evil sounds like it’s right up my alley. Sign me up!
