One of the Most Twisted Game Trailers Ever Created

The song. The visuals. Oh goodness, the blood. This is awesome.

Carmageddon: Reincarnation has been officially released on Steam Early Access yesterday, after a two-week "early early" access period limited to Kickstarter backers only. The car combat game's alpha version debuted alongside this rather... fantastic trailer. Take a look:

In case you're not familiar with the series, that animation, in which protagonist and maniac Max Damage goes on a rampage in a school bus, is pretty much a fair representation of the overall tone these games have. As for the early access version of Reincarnation itself... well.

It's certainly more of an alpha than, say, Lichdom, in that there isn't as much content to play around with and what's there isn't as polished. In fact, it's not really polished at all at this point. But the core Carmageddon experience is certainly there. Even if it's just on buggy, unfinished levels, in a terribly unoptimized engine and with plenty of missing and placeholder art, smashing into an opponent at full speed is as fun as it's ever been.

So if you're a hardcore fan of the series who somehow missed the initial funding campaign, by all means, check out the early access. Otherwise, watch and wait, 'cause Reincarnation is shaping up to be one pretty damn awesome game.
