"Dogs Wearing Pantyhose" Is Now a Thing in China

The latest meme to overtake the internet in China? "Gou gou chuan siwa" (狗狗穿丝袜), or in English, "Dogs wearing pantyhose".

Note: This post contains content that some readers might find offensive.

Hong Kong news site Sharp Daily (via IT Media) is reporting that on Chinese social networking site Weibo, many users are uploading gag photos of their dogs wearing panty hose, joking how "sexy" the mutts look.

According to Chinese site Sina, "bored" people on Weibo started the meme. Apparently, Weibo user Ulatang, who noted that the pets rolled their eyes after getting dressed in pantyhose, uploaded the first "dogs wearing pantyhose" pic (above). That image has been commented on over 16,000 times in China.

And, of course, many more pics from other folks followed. Here's a small sample:

These poor dogs! Seriously! While this does seem slightly mean (it really does), I guess it's no meaner than people dressing their pets up in other outfits—or making them cosplay. Now, whether or not this is more humiliating, that's another matter altogether.

So don't try this at home! And remember, it's okay to love your pets. Just don't love your pets.
