Prime Day is off to a strong start. Throughout the week, you’ll be able to find some huge opportunities to save all across Amazon. The sales event lasts from today, June 23 through Friday, June 26. This is a great time to make some upgrades to your gaming setup, whether that means treating yourself to a new controller or adding on a second monitor to your PC. If console storage is the area you’re looking to enhance, we’ve got some good news for you. Amazon now has the Seagate storage expansion card for Xbox Series X|S with a 2TB capacity on sale for just $220.
This isn’t a straight discount though. By default, Amazon has the external SSD for Xbox for 26% off ($90 off), bringing it from $350 to $260. However, if you check off the coupon checkbox on the item page, you’ll reduce the price further to just $220. That ends up saving you a total of $130 for a limited time.
The file size of the games we play only seem to be getting bigger and bigger. It’s far from rare these days to go to download a new title just to see that it requires in the triple digits of gigabytes in order to install. The Xbox Series X only comes with 1TB, but since much of that is dedicated to system software, you really only have about 800GB to work with.
That can fill up real fast. And when that happens, you’re just left having to make tough decision on what to delete to make room. Then when you want to revisit an older title, you have to delete something new and redownload the old game again. It’s tedious, and not a great user experience.
The best solution is to simply add more storage. The Seagate storage expansion card is designed specifically for modern Xbox consoles and will be more than tripling your available space to download and install games with its 2TB capacity.
Xbox Velocity Architecture
Since this is officially licensed by Xbox, the Seagate storage expansion card is equipped with the same Xbox Velocity Architecture as the internal storage on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles. This allows for ultra-fast loading times. It even supports Quick Resume. This is a Xbox feature that allows for you to switch between games without having to quit out of one first. You can be mid-race in Forza Horizon 6, hop out to play a quick match in Fortnite with your buds, then return to Forza to finish out the last few laps with no hiccups, no title screen, and no loading your save.
