A man in China loved his turtle so damn much that he tried to sneak it on an airplane by hiding it in a hamburger.
According to Guangzhou Daily (via South China Morning Post), a passenger surnamed Li tried to get his "beloved" pet turtle through Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport in a KFC hamburger.
When it passed through the X-ray machine, airport security noticed some "odd protrusions" sticking out of the burger the man had packed away, SCMP reports. Staff believed that the protrusions looked like turtle limbs and asked to examine his bag.
"There’s no turtle in there, just a hamburger," Li reportedly insisted. "There's nothing special to see inside."
If you don't consider a turtle burger special, that is! Airport security discovered his pet placed in a burger and told him that he could not bring the animal (or the animal burger) on the plane. He instead arranged for a friend to look after the turtle while he was away.
The man said he hatched the plan because he couldn't stand being away from his shelled companion.
For obvious reasons, folks on Weibo, China's Twitter, are uploading photos of the above "Turtle Burger" image Flickr user Flaunted created a few years back.
