Each transmitter weighs about 10 grams and either clips to a shirt or attaches magnetically through the fabric. Transmission range goes out to 400 meters in open conditions. Battery life comes to roughly 11.5 hours on a transmitter and 10.5 hours on the receiver, and the charging case pushes the system out to about 48 hours. A high-quality mic for a variety of content use cases
A wireless lavalier consists of a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter is the portable recorder that clips to the speaker and records their voice, while the receiver is the device that connects to your smartphone or digital video camera and receives that recorded audio. The two transmitters here allow for miking two speakers with one receiver. The microphones have an omnidirectional pickup pattern and will pick up all sound equally from each direction, as opposed to just directly in front.
There are two modes of noise reduction available, Basic and Strong, with a button on the transmitter that lets you switch between the two. The Basic mode is intended for quiet environments such as indoors and will help reduce fan noise, AC noise, and reverberation while preserving your voice. The Strong mode is used in louder areas and will further remove background distractions to preserve your voice clarity. In addition to these modes, there is automatic limiting to prevent overloads. If you already own DJI cameras, a transmitter connects straight to an Osmo Pocket 3, an Osmo Action 5 Pro, an Osmo Action 4, an Osmo 360, an Osmo Nano, or an Osmo Mobile 7P through OsmoAudio, and the receiver stays in your bag. The receiver itself has a dial with five gain levels for the times when the automatic settings aren’t getting you where you want to be.
At $79, down from $99, the DJI Mic Mini Wireless Lavalier Microphone System costs less than plenty of kits that only include one transmitter. Keep in mind that none of it is waterproof, so rain is something you will have to plan around.
