Gameloft has a pretty poor reputation around these parts, much of it very richly-deserved, but that doesn't mean the mobile gaming specialists are entirely without merit.

In 2009 Gameloft founded Redsteam, a studio that specialises in pre-production art. Its purpose is two-fold: while it creates art for Gameloft titles, it also aims to "grow in identifying, training and pushing top talents into Asia's games industry".

And Redsteam's art is great.

Despite all this Asian talk, though, the art we're showing you today actually comes from Redsteam's Stanislav Poltavsky. You can see more of his stuff at his personal site.

I'd like to know why is it that Gameloft has a "poor reputation"? I understand 70% of their games are straight up copies or other companies' franchises but they are GREAT copies; their games are very polished and their production values are top notch. Their original games (Mostly movie tie-ins) are really good too for the most part.

I understand why we are so quick to vilify a company that puts out great looking games with solid, bug-free gameplay on a platform barren with these type of AAA games yet we praise other companies for games like Torchlight, Warhammer OnLine, Old Republic and similar games that also heavily borrow from an already stablished franchise.
