Open-ear Bluetooth earbuds that take pressure off your ears and make for great audio

The JointArc is what holds the earbuds in place during a workout. Shokz built it from a single piece of nickel-titanium covered in soft silicone. This combination lets the JointArc bend to fit a wide range of ear sizes while maintaining enough tension to keep the earbuds from falling off during movement. Because there’s only one size option, Shokz achieved this flexibility through the arch’s design.

Shokz also incorporated Bassphere dual-driver technology. Bassphere delivers strong bass and crisp highs, even though the buds are relatively small. Using the Shokz app, you can choose from four pre-programmed equalization settings as well as create your own unique customizations for the other two slots.

If you’ve ever had trouble with people being able to hear everything you’re listening to because you were wearing open-ear headphones, DirectPitch is here to solve that problem. DirectPitch uses phase cancellation to guide sound directly into your ear, rather than letting it radiate outward into the surrounding environment. Whether you’re working quietly in a busy office or riding public transportation, DirectPitch minimizes the chance that everyone nearby will know what you’re listening to.

When making calls, the microphones pick up your voice through Adaptive Beamforming and AI-based noise-reduction algorithms. Together, these technologies isolate your voice from ambient sounds. Tap controls work with a tap on the battery compartment or the JointArc, or with a two-finger pinch on the compartment. You can customize all gestures in the app, but a single tap doesn’t register as a control command, so you won’t accidentally pause your songs when you adjust the fit of your earbuds.

Each pair has 10 hours of battery life and includes a charging case that brings the total to 40 hours, giving you roughly a week of playtime before you need to recharge. If you need a little extra juice, a 10-minute quick charge adds another two hours of battery life for days when you leave the house without time to fully charge them. With multipoint pairing, you can connect both your laptop and phone at the same time. And if you misplace one of your earbuds, the app’s ring function makes it easy to locate.
