A foldable phone with a 7.6-inch inner screen and seven years of updates

The Galaxy Z Fold8 can function both as a mobile phone and a compact tablet. This includes a 5.5-inch cover screen for basic use, a 7.6-inch main screen for viewing content and staying productive, a pair of 50-megapixel rear cameras, access to all Galaxy AI functions, and seven years of operating system and security upgrades.

The cover screen adopts a new 10:16 form factor that delivers a great experience for common activities like texting, browsing, and making voice calls with the phone folded. When you expand the fold-out main screen, it becomes a 4:3 ratio with much more space for video, and gamers also appreciate the extra real estate. Both displays can refresh at up to 120Hz, and the primary display reaches an extraordinary 3,000 nits of maximum brightness.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor is powerful and well-suited to handle heavy demands from games, apps running simultaneously, and the processing power required for on-device AI. The phone also has an integrated vapor chamber cooling solution that effectively manages the thermal load generated by high-performance use. Galaxy AI lets you edit photos, summarize written notes, translate in real time during voice calls, and locate specific items on your screen.

Side-by-side app operation with Multi Window and dragging content between windows show how well suited the large inner display is for multitasking. For example, you may wish to maintain an active chat window while you continue to browse web pages or watch video.

The rear camera module includes two 50-megapixel sensors: a standard camera and a wide-angle camera. Each of the two displays, cover and interior, also includes a 10-megapixel front-facing camera, and you can capture self-portraits using the cameras mounted on the back of the phone by employing the cover display as a viewfinder. Flex Mode also lets you position your phone in a semi-open configuration for hands-free photos and hands-free video calls.

The phone includes a large 4,800mAh battery and supports fast wired charging up to 45W, fast wireless charging up to 20W, and reverse wireless charging to charge compatible accessories like headphones or smartwatches. Samsung estimates that the battery provides over 26 hours of continuous video playback.

The Galaxy Z Fold8 carries an official IP48 rating for protection against dust ingress and water exposure, and its slender profile makes it easy to hold and comfortable to carry in your pocket. Out of the box, the phone runs Android 17 with One UI 9, and Samsung has committed to years of extended software support.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 delivers an expansive display experience, but with significantly less bulk than expected. It’s an excellent option for those seeking a single device that can serve multiple purposes, including personal and professional needs.
