This surprise hit, coming-of-age-story from Annapurna Interactive—Mixtape—dropped last week. As the name hints, this music centric title is driven by its outstanding soundtrack and our main character Stacy Rockford is seen throughout the game sporting a stylish, unbranded pair of retro headphones. Audiophiles might recognize the design as appearing to have been at least in part inspired by the Koss Porta Pro. These on-ear headphones first released in 1984, but are still being made today. So if you want to kick back to the music hand-curated by Stacy herself on the same pair of headphones she wears, you can do so right now.

Legendary Sound
The standard pair of Koss Porta Pro headphones are largely unchanged in the near half a century they’ve been around. They’re capable of producing audio with a deep bass and crisp highs. You can adjust the fit using the sliders on either side above the earpads for either a lighter or firmer hold. These even include some modern functionality like an in-line microphone and remote built into the cable for controlling your music. When finished listening, they collapse into a compact size which can be tucked into the included carrying case. You can own a pair for yourself for just $60 at Amazon.
Funny enough, it seems as though Stacy might be wearing her pair backwards. That could be a simple mistake from the devs, or we can choose to view it as this recent high school graduate not knowing as much about the world as she thinks she does. It also seems like it might be an artistic choice not to include wires coming out the bottom of the headphones, but for you, that can be a practical choice.
A wireless Bluetooth model of the Koss Porta Pro headphones are also available. These are near identical, except instead you’ll just connect to you phone via Bluetooth the way you would a pair of AirPods. Controls are integrated onto the backside of the right ear for volume, play/pause, skipping track, and even to activate a voice assistant. Battery will last you more than 20 hours on a single charge. And if you would prefer listening over a wired connection, you can plug in the included USB-C to 3.5mm cord. These right now are selling for $100 at Amazon.
Both the wired and wireless version of the Koss Porta Pro headphones ship with the conventional, albeit a bit boring, black earpads. If you want to complete the throwback look of what you see on screen in Mixtape, you can add on theses orange pads for just $12 at Amazon, or choose from a handful of other vibrant options.
That means to replicate Stacy’s look, it’ll run you only $72 with the wired option. That’s less than a new pair of AirPods. If you choose to go wireless, that’ll come to $112.
