A reliable daily driver laptop that you can use for multiple purposes

Most computers available in this price class use a U-series processor. In general, these processors prioritize battery life, with performance second. This computer uses an H-series processor, with the H standing for higher power, so although it runs hotter and draws more electrical current, it can handle more demanding tasks. The i5-13420H has four performance cores and four efficiency cores, and it supports a total of twelve processing threads. The i5-13420H is also clocked up to 4.6GHz.

For productivity, a taller display adds up over time. At 1920 by 1200 in a 16:10 aspect ratio, with an IPS panel and anti-glare properties, the display provides about two additional rows of information compared to a 16:9 format display. It also offers 300 nits of brightness, which helps keep documents and spreadsheets readable even with overhead lighting or windows behind you.

For multitasking, the 16GB of DDR5 memory helps manage multiple programs running at once. DDR5 is much faster than DDR4, so it lets you keep many applications open while maintaining performance. According to Lenovo, you should have no problem keeping 15 or more browser tabs open alongside several other applications without the laptop slowing down. A 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD sits behind the RAM. This drive provides double the storage most laptops this size come with, and it’s fast enough to deliver boot times under 10 seconds.

The ports include two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 connectors, a single USB-C connector with Power Delivery and DisplayPort, HDMI, an SD card reader, and a headphone jack. WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 handle both wireless connectivity options, and the 720p webcam has a physical privacy shutter you slide closed when the camera isn’t in use.

TPM 2.0 is on board to meet Windows 11 security requirements, and the keyboard is full-size with a numeric keypad on the right. The whole machine weighs about 3.7 pounds. At $840 rather than $1,999, the Lenovo Intel Core i5-13420H Laptop Computer ships with a 65W adapter and Intel’s integrated UHD graphics rather than a dedicated card, so it’s not for gaming or video rendering.
