The old-school versions of Mortal Kombat were filled with hidden characters, features and in-jokes. You’d only ever see them if you fulfilled certain requirements. The new one has stuff like that, too, but they can be a bit more elusive. Here’s how to trigger a secret showdown in Mortal Kombat X.
As documented in the video above, YouTuber JurassicRabbit seems to have figured out the means to unlocking the mysterious match-up. It happens in the Mortal Kombat 1 Premiere Living Tower, which rolls out a line-up of classic Kombatants for players to face.
- You’ll need to play in Mortal Kombat 1 Living Tower (which may not be available), fighting until the sixth battle.
- Win 1 Flawless Victory in the sixth battle. If you take damage in each round, just lose and retry.
- Kill your opponent with either a Fatality or Brutality.
If you do all those things, then the secret fight should open up. The enemy you’ll face? A garden-variety Reptile, same as he appears in the other parts of MKX. It’s cool that this little homage is in the MK1 living tower, but sure seems like a missed opportunity to have it go down with any funky bells or whistles.
