Massively comfortable headphones with excellent noise-cancelling audio

Noise cancellation on the QuietComfort works through two named modes plus whatever you build between them. Quiet Mode is full cancellation, which flattens engine drone on a plane and the hum of an office HVAC system. Aware Mode passes outside sound through, so you can hear a gate announcement or someone talking to you. Custom modes let you set the cancellation somewhere in the middle and save it. Wind Block cuts the rushing sound you get walking outside on a breezy day, which is the one thing most noise cancellation makes worse instead of better.

Bose tuned these for deep bass, and the Adjustable EQ in the app gives you bass, mid-range, and treble controls if that isn’t where you want the sound. A button on the side of the right earcup triggers Spotify Tap, which starts playback without you unlocking your phone first. The built-in microphone takes calls, and there’s a second one on the included cable for wired use.

You’ll get up to 24 hours of playtime from a complete battery charge. That’s enough to cover a week of commutes with time left over. A 15-minute charge via a USB-C connection will add another 2.5 hours of playtime. And if the battery dies while you’re listening, the provided audio cable turns them into passive headphones that keep working with no power at all.

Multipoint Bluetooth allows you to connect two devices at one time, and with the push of a button, you switch between them without losing connection and having to pair again. So if you’re using your laptop for a work call but also want to keep listening to music on your phone, these headphones let you do that without ever stopping to reconnect.

At $229, down from $359, this is the black version with the audio cable included. If you fly often, work somewhere loud, or just want the world turned down while you read, the QuietComfort does that. The 24-hour battery means you aren’t thinking about charging them every night either.
