The DJI Osmo Pocket 3 Creator Combo is a pocket-sized camera on a three-axis mechanical gimbal that keeps footage steady as you walk, instead of relying on software to smooth it out afterward. Behind the lens is a 1-inch stacked CMOS sensor that handles dim rooms and night shots without the noise smaller sensors produce, and video goes up to 4K at 120fps. The 2-inch OLED screen rotates between horizontal and vertical, so a clip meant for a phone doesn’t need cropping later. This combo includes the DJI Mic 2 transmitter, a wide-angle lens, a battery handle, a mini tripod, and a carrying bag.

A kit with everything you need to become a drone-centric creator

Three motorized axes on the Pocket 3’s gimbal physically hold the lens level while you move, so footage from a walk or a bike ride comes out smooth instead of shaky. Digital stabilization on a phone crops into the frame and smears fast motion, and mechanical stabilization avoids both problems. ActiveTrack 6.0 locks onto a face or an object when you double-tap it on screen, and the gimbal follows on its own while you keep your hands free.

The 1-inch sensor on this device is an improvement over the 1/1.7-inch sensor on the Pocket 2, and the difference is most visible in low-light environments and at night. Full-pixel phase-detection autofocus allows for quicker focusing, which matters as much as anything else when you are the subject and moving closer to or farther from your camera. If you plan to color-grade footage after shooting, both D-Log M and 10-bit color are options. With the capability to shoot at 4K at 120fps, you get slow-motion video at the full resolution of your camera rather than slow motion captured by cropping into a portion of the image.

Three integrated microphones pick up stereo sound while cutting down on background noise, and there are three different modes of directionality: front, both front and rear, or all. The transmitter part of the DJI Mic 2 attaches to your clothing and has its own recording capability, allowing your voice to be heard clearly when there are many feet of separation between you and your camera. That’s the difference between usable audio outdoors and wind noise ruining a take.

Battery life is up to 166 minutes on the built-in 1300mAh cell, and the battery handle in this combo adds roughly 62% more, or another 103 minutes at 1080p. Charging takes 16 minutes to 80% and 32 minutes to full with a 65W PD charger. Built-in Wi-Fi connects straight to your phone with no extra handle required.

The DJI Osmo Pocket 3 Creator Combo is selling for $549, down from $629. Along with the camera, you get the mic transmitter, windscreen, clip magnet, wide-angle lens, battery handle, mini tripod, carrying bag, and wrist strap.
