The DJI Flip Drone is a vlog-focused mini drone that is the company’s first model with a foldable full-coverage propeller guard built into the airframe. The drone weighs less than 249 grams, which keeps it under FAA registration thresholds for casual flyers, and folds down to a size that fits in a coat pocket. The bundle ships with the DJI RC 2 remote, a controller with a built-in 5.5-inch 1080p screen at 700 nits of brightness, so there’s no need to mount a phone to the controller or launch an app before takeoff.

Right now, the DJI Flip Drone with RC 2 is $509 on Amazon, $130 below the $639 list price. That’s about 20 percent off.

A drone perfect for beginners and veterans alike

The sensor in the DJI Flip Drone captures 4K/60fps HDR video, 48 MP images, and 10-bit D-LOG-M color data so you can easily color-correct your footage after it’s shot. Mavic also added a 2.7K vertical mode so you can shoot content specifically for platforms like IG Reels, TikTok, or YouTube Shorts and avoid cropping when editing.

Pre-programmed maneuvers like Dronie, Circle, Rocket, Spotlight, Helix, and Boomerang, to help you automatically create great cinematic shots with just one touch. With Active Track version 4.0, you can film moving subjects across the frame while keeping your hands free while hiking, biking, or skating. The palm launch feature lets you send the Flip flying from your hand, eliminating the need to place it on the ground first, which is perfect for creating content on the go.

The O4 Video Transmission System by DJI provides a maximum range of 13km at 1080p/60 fps and has excellent resistance to radio interference. A single battery provides up to 31 minutes of flight time, and the 3D Infrared Sensing System detects objects within 1m that are difficult to see and automatically brakes to avoid a collision.

The foldable full-coverage propeller guard uses a carbon fiber support structure that weighs 1/60th as much as traditional polycarbonate guards while maintaining the same stiffness. The guard protects bystanders and props alike, which makes the Flip a safer choice for indoor shooting, kids’ birthday parties, or content with people in the frame. Voice control works through “Hey Fly” commands for hands-free piloting, and Wi-Fi transfer at 30 MB/s pushes finished footage to the DJI Fly app for editing without a cable.

The 5.5-inch display on the DJI RC 2 is still easily readable in direct sunlight, thanks to its impressive 700 nits of brightness. Additionally, the DJI RC 2 instantly boots, so you can fly your Mavic immediately after turning on the controller, which is much quicker than with a phone app. Lastly, the 16GB of internal memory is perfect for backing up your video when the drone’s SD card becomes full.

The DJI Flip Drone with RC 2 normally lists at $639, but is currently priced at $509. The bundle includes the drone, the RC 2 controller, one Intelligent Flight Battery, one pair of propellers, a gimbal protector, and the cables needed to start flying right out of the box.
