Over-ear headphones with Bose’s noise cancellation and spatial audio
The QuietComfort Ultra Headphones are Bose’s top-of-the-line over-ear wireless headphones for air travel, work, and home entertainment. Along with Quiet, Aware, Immersive Audio, and Cinema modes, CustomTune, lossless audio over USB-C, multipoint Bluetooth connectivity, and a smart standby mode, the headphones have polished metal armatures.
Bose has updated its noise cancellation technology using improved algorithms to improve the adaptive response of the headphones’ noise cancellation systems. According to Bose, less ambient noise from the noise-cancellation circuitry leaks into quieter environments, so more detail comes through. Aware Mode with ActiveSense lets some external sound into the headphones while smoothing out large spikes caused by environmental noise.
Bose’s Immersive Audio creates surround-sound effects where the sound appears to originate from all directions. In order to help maintain the sense of location of sound as you move your head, two modes are provided: a “Still” mode and a “Motion” mode. Cinema Mode increases the soundstage of movie audio and the voice clarity of podcast and audiobook narration.
With a compatible device, you can stream lossless audio at 16-bit and either 44.1kHz or 48kHz directly via USB-C. It also supports low-latency audio for gaming. You can listen to music even while the headphones charge, and an analog connection is also available via a 2.5mm connector.
With noise cancellation enabled, you can get up to 30 hours of battery life. Up to 23 hours of battery life may be obtained with Immersive Audio, and up to 45 hours of battery life may be achieved when both Immersive Audio and noise cancellation are disabled. Fifteen minutes of charging provides approximately 3 hours of playtime.
Smart standby is one way the headphones conserve battery life. The headphones automatically detect when you’ve taken them off and enter a low-power state, reducing energy consumption. When you lay the headphones flat or place them in their storage case, they enter a deeper sleep mode. As a result, you typically don’t have to press the power button to wake them back up.
Bluetooth 5.4 supports multipoint connectivity, and compatible Snapdragon Sound devices support aptX Adaptive. Google Fast Pair and Spotify Tap enable simple pairing and playback, and the Bose app lets you create seven custom modes and customize the headphones’ EQ. Bose QuietComfort Ultra Bluetooth Headphones represent the pinnacle of noise-canceling headphone technology combined with high-fidelity, immersive audio.
