Porting a non-VR game into VR is way less successful, in my experience, than building a made-for-VR experience from scratch. So I’m not sure it’s that easy. On the other hand, Oculus has 350 people working on these problems, and that’s just at Oculus. Read more

In the short run we probably will see a “class war” that was similar to the gulf that divided console and PC players in the 1980s and 1990s. For what it’s worth, the Oculus Touch demo was a very social experience, as is Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes. I agree that we are seeing mostly shorter experiences right now. Read more

Adr1ft. Out in September. VR is optional (as you won’t be able to buy a consumer headset in 3 months). Read more

For what it’s worth, I wear glasses and have never really cared for 3D movies, except for rare instances like Avatar. VR is so much better than 3D that I don’t think it is comparable. It is, of course, a lot more expensive, too. Read more

I played on PS4, as the review box notes. We have some people checking out the reports on the PC port today. Read more

Arkham Knight picks up right where Arkham City ended. I liked Arkham Origins, but it is not essential to understanding this game. Read more

Kokoromi. I spoke to Heather Kelley about the game, who emphasized that it was a collective. Read more

I wear glasses when I play, and yes, the Oculus DK 2 rips them off my face when I take it off. I have less trouble with the Crescent Bay prototype. I don’t remember what happened with the consumer version. But I always play with glasses. Morpheus gives me very little trouble, because of the way it puts pressure on Read more

Yes, I had very little queasiness, basically none. The Assembly, Tuesday, was a little uncomfortable to navigate because it relies on the right stick for movement, which is disorienting in VR. Games that use gaze to navigate, or have you seated in a cockpit, or are in third person like Edge of Nowhere and Lucky’s Read more

Maybe I’ll put together a full list at the end of the show. I played 29 demos on Wednesday, by my count. I didn’t play quite as many on Tuesday, because the show hours are shorter on the first day. Read more

It wasn’t bad. I just wouldn’t be into it if it wasn’t 1980s cartoon Transformers. Mirror’s Edge is playable, but I ran out of time at my EA booth tour for it. I’m going to try to head back on Thursday, but my schedule’s fully booked, so it’s unlikely, alas. Read more

I honestly don’t know. I spent about 15 minutes with it, but the sound at my station was dodgy—a peril of E3. And of course, Austin Wintory’s score was perhaps the best part of the first one. Read more

I adore The King of Kong (Bearman was a contributing producer, and began working on his Harper’s article before the documentary). Of course there’s a case for Donkey Kong and Space Invaders before Pac-Man. But none of those three are as enduringly popular as Ms. Pac-Man. Read more

Hey, I really would like to know why people get stuck on the third level of Snakebird. Because that’s where I got stuck. Read more
