I had a similar experience about the movie "Dune" (the '80s theatrical release). I loved it as a kid, it fired up my imagination and created a meme around my household that endures to this day (about 30 years later). It wasn't until recently that I discovered it is considered both a commercial and a critical flop. Read more

And if you read Gizmodo's Surface review, note the steady stream of comments from readers eviscerating the review. Virtually none of the readers, even those usually anti-Microsoft, seem to see it as fair and balanced. Read more

Segata Shanshiro was Sega's Japan-only Saturn mascot. They even gave him an epic send-off on the eve of the Dreamcast launch. Truly legendary. Read more

Halo Wars showed us this could be done well, its controls were extremely good as well, and the game benefited from the streamlining as it lead to fast and frantic exchanges. I have a co-worker who won't stop talking about this, so I hope to try it out soon. Read more

The Paperwhite looks like a decent e-reader, but does not appear to be the best on the market. The Kobo Glo seems to be the best overall. Unlike the Kindle PW, the Kobo Glo has SD card support for example. It has an IR touchscreen which works with gloves (or a hand poking out from under a blanket if reading in bed Read more

I'd bet against a $150 price tag. Including an HDD in every PS3 works against that. The only console with an integrated (and non-optional) HDD that ever hit that price was the original Xbox, and Microsoft lost bucketloads of cash at that price (they were doing it to match the PS2).
