As an Intellivision owner back in those days, the ability to put overlays in the carts is actually a really good idea. Unless you keep all the original boxes around, storing overlays was actually a real pain in the butt (almost all Intellivision games had overlays). Read more

Exo-Squad's intro is among the intros conspicuous by their absence, though I understand there are a *lot* of shows out there and a holistic list is somewhere between impractical and impossible. Tough call on whether the season 1 or season 2 intro is better, so I'll reply to this with the season two intro. :)

While my heart goes out to Battle of the Planets and, most especially, Star Blazers, I think the X-Men animated theme song perhaps has the most credible claim for becoming iconic in virtually no time flat. That's one theme song that seemed instantly iconic, and didn't require decades of nostalgia to get there. Read more

No, that's not a similar situation, IMO. You (quite correctly) indicate Microsoft has a 4GB system to offer a lower price point, and hopes people will upgrade it over time; I was suggesting Sony created a new SKU specifically in the hopes that very few people would take advantage of the price drop on the old SKU. If you like platformers, some of the very best of this generation are on Xbox Live Indie Games (XBLIG), many of them costing only $1. For a platformer fan, therefore, I'd lean that way more than a PS3. Read more

Xbox Live Indie Games (XBLIG) has tonnes of awesome platformers, many of them costing only $1. That, more than XBLA, makes the 360 the natural choice for a platformer fan, IMO. Read more
