Ok, I get the confusion. Those elixirs they got are temporary. They got 5 elixirs by selling items, but if they used those up and died, they’d still respawn with the default number. Making offerings doesn’t permanently increase the number of free elixirs you get when you spawn - only collecting Kodama does that. Read more

Jason would only be proud of me if Nioh transformed into a 1998 Konami JRPG halfway through. Read more

Yeah, you can make offerings at shrines (basically, sell your gear to a shrine) in exchange for some amrita, and you’ll occasionally get an elixir as well. AFAIK you don’t get any sort of estus-like upgrade, though - you can only increase your elixir loadout by finding Kodama out in the levels themselves. Read more

Hah yeah, I didn’t mention it in the article but the helicopter controls are pretty odd. Maybe you... get... used to them? Read more

It’s a hell of a game, but this is shaping up to be a hell of a year. Read more

That’s tricky - not many games with good jazz in them. I always liked the jazz station in GTA IV? Lots of people will call a soundtrack “jazzy” when it isn’t really jazz, but soundtracks with legit jazz bands (like Grim Fandango) are suuuper few and far between. Read more

Everyone has biases. I, for example, am biased toward sandwiches. I’m not sure what you mean by living up to biases, however. I do feel I live up to my sandwich bias fairly regularly, because I eat a lot of sandwiches. Read more

I think there are a lot of serious Mass Effect nerds on staff here. I actually feel weirdly disconnected from Andromeda? Doesn’t feel like it’s actually coming out so soon. That might be a good thing, since it’s a fresh start. I hope it’s good, and given the team making it, have no real reason to think it won’t be. Read more

I watch videos, mainly. For starters, I check out instructional videos from really good players on youtube, since those can be helpful for general strategy. But if a game is really kicking my ass, I also watch playback of videos of myself that I captured while playing - it can be very helpful when you’re fighting a Read more

I don’t think they’ll go back on that pledge anytime in the near future, but I do think they’re going to start pushing “best on Pro” as a thing this year, and we’ll probably see more games like The Last Guardian that run noticeably worse on a regular PS4. Read more

Thanks! I’m glad you liked it. I definitely want to do more articles like that, though they do take a lot of time to write. More this year, for sure. Read more
