I'm torn. I mean, Akira is hardly Dragon Ball. With the right kind of CGI, it could work. (I remember back in 1989 I read a review that extolled the virtues of anime by citing Akira's climax as an example of something that could only be achieved in the genre.) But... what's wrong with the anime? Read more

@Sugoi: Haha, as an ex-Aion dabbler, I totally know what you mean. Read more

@Comban will Ban you.: Yeah, I think maybe I wasn't clear in what I was trying to say. If 39 million people have made a WoW account (even a trial one), and let's say 5 million of those are accounts that are, for lack of a better term, duplicates, then you are still looking at 34 million people who have tried WoW, Read more

@Coolux: Conceded, but even being generous, I doubt multiboxers count for more than 5 million accounts total. You're still looking at more people than the population of Australia... Read more

@Sir-Lucius does anything for Dethklok: I'm not sure how to agree with you on this one. For the most part, I get what you are saying, but it only takes a couple of hours to get past level 10 on WoW. Are people really shelling out big bucks to only spend a couple of hours with each game? Read more

Actually, I think you're spinning this the wrong way. Given that the average player can get past level 10 in a few hours — it's pretty much the starting area and that's it — then that means 11.5 million is only 30% of the people who have ever even TRIED WoW. That means roughly 39 million people have at least tried Read more

WoW is like Hotel California. That said, I know plenty of people who started playing after December 2008, so I guess they are just balancing out the people that manage to get free. Read more

But if you are sitting in BioWare's Edmonton, Canada offices, 54 Celsius sure seems "hostile" to sapient life, but in Saudi Arabia, that's just called "summertime". Read more

@Gray Harvest: No, it does. You can't get a signal to the monitor at all. I know this because when I got my PS3 I was reduced to SDTV until I could get a monitor that supported HDCP. I couldn't even play games. Read more

@CHunterX: Compare it to, say, the UK's M1.

@CHunterX: In fact, I'll give you an example of what I'm talking about. This is New Zealand State Highway 1.

@ngamesnick: Not really, usually shipping and import taxes bring the price back up to what you would have paid. Additionally, New Zealand uses different standards to America (PAL vs NTSC, 240v vs 110v, etc) so the cost in getting an import TV to work isn't really worth it in the end. Read more

@CHunterX: No, you're being obtuse for the sake of argument and obviously weren't loved much as a child if you don't understand the concept of a gift. Neither the 360 or the laptop she paid for. Read more

@k!dman: Yeah, unfortunately electronics in New Zealand are ridiculously expensive. Most "electronic" luxury items are. Video games are about US$90 each, and CDs are about US$20, for example. Read more

@M16-is-my-lazer: It's okay, I don't. I've actually lived in America and I know that it's far from the truth that all Americans act like this. There are many, sure, but no less than any other country I've lived in. He's proving a stereotype, but I think most people realise that stereotypes aren't true for the most Read more

@k!dman: New Zealand. And the HDTV I just bought — 22" LG 720p — was US$480. Even then, I only caved because it was the Christmas season and it was a good deal. Read more

@Pillage2: What part of "sister" did you skim over? My sister didn't afford an Xbox 360; it was bought for her. She doesn't have cable Internet; she doesn't have her 360 hooked up to LIVE. This is the one game she will buy this year; and she saved up for over 6 months to afford it. Read more

@Relic142: Fair enough. Sorry if I came across as overly hostile. You can probably tell it's a raw nerve easily struck. Read more
