@Jilkon: Fair enough, although if you compare it to the Penny Arcade game, which I actually really liked (got it last night, stayed up all night and beat it), and is pretty short too the metric behind achievements kind of falls apart. Read more

@JaxomZero: Those are examples of the game rewarding you for your achievements, not an external system. Why is the external system necessary at all, especially in single player games? Are games and gaming more about bragging rights or the experience they provide. Read more

@ExistentialEgg: They said in an interview that they viewed achievements as unnecessary. I definitely agree with them. A good game will emotionally reward players for doing weird and exhaustive shit. Read more

@Batman: Let me also add that at this point, for that much money I would wait for another reason. New consoles will probably hit two to three years from now. Game requirements will quickly ratchet up after that, so you should aim to get a beast a year or two after the launch, not a year or two before. Read more
