I used to be such a fan of Card, but I think his later books suffer from him trying to make his characters say things rather than letting his characters speak. That and his awful Rhinocerous Times articles changed my opinion of him. I still like Ender's Game though. Read more

@naikou: I agree with you on absolutely every point here. Brave New World reads like it was written by a Nineteenth Century British Imperialist, and I love Orwell as a writer. My favorite book by him is Down and Out in Paris and London, and I like Homage to Catalonia as much as 1984. Read more

@Drogmir: I thought it was absolutely great, but so are many other sci-fi books. Stranger in a Strange Land and Dune compete in my books. If you want to count things that are actually Sci-fi but people call them something different, I'd say Oryx and Crake, 1984, and any of Vonnegut's stuff are up there too. Read more
