This game looks good and I will probably pick it up, but I kinda wish more devs would make older style games with hi res animated graphics, a la dust an elysian tail. I loved the look of that game and the gameplay. There just seem to be alot of games that associate the play style of oldschool fun with low res pixel art Read more

Think about it. on PC and PS4 would get them more money to make content for it. a bigger audience. Read more

I am curious if any kickstarter games don't get funded after being featured in a Kotaku article. Read more

I'm confused. From the trailer it looks like a lot of development has already been done with, I assume, not a ton of money invested. What's the 110k going to? I doubt the teams going to get much bigger. A lot of the kickstarter pitches I've seen are a general outline and some art assets, not what looks like an E3 Read more

I always would rather they put the money into making the game better, then with the profit from the PC sale finance the port, since everyone who has a PS4 also has a PC that can run this game. Read more

Man Ultima Online was great. Though they'd have to make it free to play. Read more

Ultima online is still a really wonderful game. The house building alone is worth playing the game for Read more

I'm surprised Dark Age of Camelot is still running off a $15/month subscription service. I have some fond memories of it (and not so fond ones - mention of underwater zones and combat in any other MMO has been permanently ruined for me), but I just can't bring myself to pay that for what I assume is a single server Read more

My two favourite MMOs of all time. I absolutely support this! Read more

That's a pretty brilliant way of reviving old classics. Suppose we'll see if it works out for them! Read more

Yes. Yes it is. Observe, here is the video above in full screen on my monitor. Notice it's in portrait mode. That means the screen is split into thirds. 1/3 empty space, 1/3 content, 1/3 empty space, in roughly equal parts.

Seeing some of these designs immediately made me think of Neil DeGrasse Tyson's comments on Arabic influence on math and science during the Islamic Golden Age and how it ultimately came to an end.

The whole Islamic art is like a puzzle is kind of true. Ever time I visit the mosque I sometimes stare at these designs and my mind sort of starts going in a trance, as though I'm trying to solve a puzzle. This also applies other things such as praying mats as well. Read more

Some Western-developed games have caused controversy by, often inadvertently, featuring Islamic elements. In 2008 Sony had to delay the release of LittleBigPlanet so that a song featuring lines of the Qur'an could be removed. In 2012, a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 map was taken down and altered to remove a quote Read more

Great article. Another wonderfully diverse article from Kotaku. As a Muslim myself it is so refreshing to hear a positive article on the influence that Islamic art is having on the industry. Keep up the wonderful work Kotaku. Read more

The only one I noticed this in was Journey before. I don't really tend to think of artistic style influence on games, thanks for writing this and exposing to me a different point of view. Read more

Thank you for this amazing article. As a Muslim, I've seen these art styles countless times over my lifetime, but reading this made me realize how much I've taken them for granted. I will definitely pay more attention to them now when the opportunity presents. Read more

Thanks for the article. It surely wouldn't hurt to introduce different ways of seeing the same thing. The problem is the risk of offending other cultures in the process. Some societies don't want their arts and symbols to be subject to fashion or become cold commodities, patented or stolen without approval. So you Read more
