I like the way Diablo 3 does it for multiplayer. You only see your loot, so in a 4-player game, everyone gets their share. It is always annoying when you hear someone say "Yes! I got a legendary (insert item)" and you just end up with a bunch of junk you can't use. Read more

The loot system in Borderlands and Fallout are different but both fit the gameplay superbly. My only problem with these games and loot is that the majority of the loot have no cosmetic distinction between them. Since they have a great system intact, I think they should work to improve this.
