The Beats Pill is small enough to fit in your hand, yet it plays much louder than many portable Bluetooth speakers. This is due to the way it uses a racetrack-shaped woofer and tweeter that work together as part of a single unit. One tap pairs the Beats Pill with your iPhone or other Apple device, and the internal H1 chip lets you switch instantly between paired Apple devices and track the Beats Pill via Find My. It is rated at IP67, allowing it to fully submerge in water and withstand all types of dust. Plus, for such a small speaker, the Pill offers very good battery life, running for up to 24 hours on a single charge.

The current Beats Pill price on Amazon is $100, $50 off the $150 list price. That works out to a third off the standard price.

This new Pill has far better sound quality than its predecessor. A special, racetrack-shaped woofer dominates the interior of this Pill and delivers nearly 90% more power than the original. The speaker also features a tweeter for higher frequencies that the woofer cannot produce cleanly. An optical sensor detects the speaker’s position in the room and whether it is standing vertically, horizontally, or at an angle. The sensor will then adjust the EQ to ensure the speaker sounds as good as possible in each setting.

The Pill inherits the H1 chip from the AirPods line. For iPhone, iPad, and Mac users, the chip enables one-tap setup, automatic Bluetooth switching between paired Apple devices, hands-free Siri through the connected phone, and Find My location tracking if you misplace the speaker. Android users still get standard Bluetooth pairing through the Beats app, which is available for both platforms.

Stereo pairing lets you sync two Pill speakers for left-right channel separation across a larger area, or use Amplify mode to combine the speakers and play the same audio in mono for higher total volume. Both pairing modes activate through the Beats app on iOS or Android.

USB-C handles charging and lossless audio input. You can plug a phone or laptop directly into the speaker through USB-C for higher-fidelity audio than Bluetooth can deliver, and the speaker can charge a phone over the same port at the same time. Charging the speaker itself takes 90 minutes for a full charge, with 10 minutes of charging providing roughly 2 hours of playback.

The Pill comes in three matte colorways, including Matte Black, Statement Red, and Champagne Gold. A built-in lanyard loop accepts a strap for carrying the speaker on a backpack or hooking it to camping gear, though Beats sells the strap separately.

You can buy the Beats Pill on Amazon now for $100, down from $150. It retains the same small form factor that made the original so popular while adding 24 hours of battery life, better audio quality, an IP67 rating for water- and dust-resistance, and the H1 chip, which enables seamless pairing with all Apple devices.
