Apple has a well-established policy of not discounting its own products. The AirPods Pro 3 launched at $249 and that is exactly what the official Apple site charges today. Amazon, meanwhile, has the same earbuds at $169, their all-time low since launch, open to any Amazon customer without a Prime membership. That is an $80 gap that Apple shows no interest in closing.

These are not just earbuds anymore

The AirPods Pro 3 crossed a line that previous generations could not: they are now a health device. Built-in heart rate sensing tracks your heart rate and calories burned across more than 50 workout types, feeding data directly into Apple Health and the new Workout Buddy feature powered by Apple Intelligence. For anyone already living in the Apple ecosystem, that means your earbuds are now doing the job your Apple Watch used to handle alone. The two devices complement each other rather than duplicate, but if you are not a watch person, the Pro 3 gives you a meaningful slice of that health tracking without strapping anything to your wrist.

The Hearing Aid feature is the other addition that makes the Pro 3 feel genuinely different from an audio product. A hearing test runs directly through the Health app, maps your specific hearing profile, and uses the results to personalize the Hearing Aid output in real time. Automatic Conversation Boost amplifies speech from nearby people when you need it, without requiring manual activation. Active Hearing Protection monitors your environment and dials back exposure when ambient noise exceeds safe levels. These are not gimmick features tucked into a settings menu. They are the kind of functionality that used to require a separate medical device.

The noise cancellation gap just widened again

Apple claims the AirPods Pro 3 remove up to twice as much unwanted noise as the Pro 2, which was already the benchmark for ANC in earbuds. The acoustic architecture was rebuilt from scratch, with a new driver and amplifier combination that delivers noticeably more bass and cleaner vocal reproduction than the previous generation. Personalized Spatial Audio adapts the three-dimensional soundstage to your specific ear geometry, and next-generation Adaptive EQ continuously adjusts frequency response based on fit in real time rather than running a one-time calibration during setup.

Live Translation is the feature that benefits from the always-in-ear format most directly. Point your phone at a sign, a menu, or a person speaking another language, and the translation comes through your ears rather than requiring you to look at a screen. For travel, that shift in how the output arrives changes the experience from a lookup task to something closer to natural comprehension.

Battery, fit, and what comes in the box

Eight hours of listening with Active Noise Cancellation enabled, or ten hours in Transparency and Hearing Aid mode, covers most use cases from a single charge. Five ear tip sizes replace the four offered on the Pro 2, addressing the fit gap that some users hit with the previous generation. The USB-C case charges via cable or Qi wireless, and the whole setup pairs with any iPhone by opening the case nearby and tapping Connect on screen.

Apple includes a USB-C cable in the box and backs the Pro 3 with a one-year limited warranty. The 4.5-star average across over 10,000 reviews since launch is strong for a premium product at this price point, and the early feedback centers on the noise cancellation improvement and the health features rather than the audio upgrades, which says something about where Apple is positioning this product in the long term.

At $169, the AirPods Pro 3 are $80 below Apple’s asking price today, at their lowest point since launch. Apple is not going to match this. The official site has not moved on AirPods pricing in years, and there is no reason to expect that to change before the next generation arrives. If you have been waiting for a reason to upgrade from the Pro 2 or from any previous AirPods generation, this is probably the best price you will see for a while.
