The Kindle Scribe lets you enjoy a large, glare-free 11-inch display for reading, writing, and annotating documents, with a textured surface that simulates writing with a pen on paper. The Kindle Scribe is only 5.4mm thick and weighs about 400 grams, and the included Premium Pen never needs to be charged. It also offers several AI-based notebook features that let you search your handwritten documents and create summaries, along with other organization tools, and each charge provides many weeks of battery life.
An 11-inch e-reader and digital notebook with an included pen
Amazon’s new Kindle Scribe combines a traditional Kindle e-reader with a digital notebook. The product provides an 11-inch display with automatic adjusting front lighting, a built-in notebook, the Premium Pen, AI notebook tools, and compatibility with Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive, in one very compact, ultra-lightweight package.
The Kindle Scribe comes with an 11-inch glare-free display that’s easy on your eyes indoors and out. The Kindle Scribe’s auto-adjusting front lighting also adjusts its brightness to your environment. You may also choose to warm up your screen for more comfortable reading in low-light conditions, and system-wide “Dark Mode” is available on this device as well.
The Premium Pen fits perfectly in your hand and glides smoothly across the screen’s texture-molded glass, providing paper-like friction as you move it across the display. The Premium Pen also includes a built-in eraser and a shortcut button for tools such as a highlighter.
The Kindle Scribe’s built-in notebook uses artificial intelligence to help you make the most of your written notes. You can find specific content in your notes without remembering the exact wording. You can also have a summary generated, improve the quality of your handwriting, or convert your handwritten notes to typed text.
You can access files stored in your Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive accounts online and mark them up with your pen. You can then export your notebooks to your Microsoft OneNote account, so you can easily work with documents from school or the office.
You can also forward your handwritten notes from the Kindle Scribe to Alexa. This enables automatic transformation of handwritten lists into to-do lists, calendar entries, and reminders, so when you write an idea, it gets incorporated into your daily schedule.
As expected, the Kindle Scribe operates like any other Kindle e-reader. You can browse through your books, leave handwritten margin notes, and highlight sections. Each charge provides enough power for up to twelve weeks of reading or up to three weeks of writing, based on thirty minutes of use per day.
Because of its symmetrical bezel edges, you can easily pick up the Kindle Scribe in either hand. The Kindle Scribe is powered via USB-C, and the box includes the tablet, the Premium Pen, a USB-C cable, and replacement Premium Pen tips.
