The Select model is the more budget-friendly option. It uses a closed Linux system and only comes with 1GB of RAM, compared to the standard model’s Android-based apps and 2GB of RAM. The standard 4K model also has support for Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, Wi-Fi 6, and a more advanced HDR.
If that stuff doesn’t appeal to you necessarily, then the Fire TV Stick 4K Select is a great option—especially considering the Fire TV Stick 4K is sitting at its full price of $50 while the 4K Select is on sale for just $22. This version still can stream content in a highly-detailed 4K Ultra HD resolution and supports Wi-Fi 5 which might be plenty fast for you.

One of my favorite parts of the Fire TV Stick is its remote which has a built-n Alexa button. It can be far too cumbersome sometimes to type out the title of the movie or show you’re looking for one letter at a time using the directional pad. The Alexa button lets you just hold it down and speak the words, “The Amazing Digital Circus,” and the next thing you know, you’ll be watching a cartoon rabbit bullying an undeserving-of-his-maliciousness theatre mask with a red ribbon body. It’s a weird show, but it works.
