The Amazon Echo Show 15 is the second generation of Amazon’s largest smart display, a 15.6-inch Full HD touchscreen designed to mount on a kitchen wall as a family hub for calendars, to-do lists, video calls, recipes, and TV streaming. The new model adds Fire TV built into the operating system, a 13MP wide-angle camera with auto-framing for video calls, Wi-Fi 6E, and support for Thread and Matter smart home protocols. The display mounts horizontally or vertically, and the included Fire TV remote lets you control streaming apps so you don’t have to walk over to the screen every time you want to pause Netflix.
A full-featured smart screen perfect for your home entertainment center
The Fire TV integration includes the primary video streaming services, including Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, YouTube, Apple TV+, Disney+, HBO Max, and Hulu. The built-in Fire TV remote controls both app navigation and playback, so you can have your own mini TV in the kitchen while cooking, washing dishes, or making your morning coffee. Also, with Active Media, when users are watching something on an Echo device in the kitchen, it will automatically switch to the Echo device in the living room as you move through your home.
The 13MP wide-angle camera supports auto-framing and 3.3x zoom during video calls, which keeps moving subjects centered as they walk around the kitchen during a chat with grandma. Background noise reduction filters out running water, a vent hood, or kids playing in another room, and Drop In turns the display into an intercom between rooms in the same house.
The widget gallery is what separates the Echo Show 15 from a regular smart display. Pick widgets for the family Google or iCloud calendar, weather, news, smart home controls, photo slideshows, shopping lists, sticky notes, and music to build a custom home screen. Voice ID and Visual ID switch between household member profiles automatically based on who walks up to the screen.
Smart home control supports Matter and Thread out of the box, the two cross-brand standards that let one hub control devices from competing brands. Lights, plugs, locks, thermostats, doorbell cameras, and security cameras all consolidate into a single dashboard or get triggered by Alexa voice commands. Live View streams camera feeds full-screen on the display.
The 15.6-inch 1080p screen handles Full HD video at sizes large enough to read recipes from across the kitchen, and the speakers use a redesigned audio system that delivers louder, clearer sound than the first-generation model. The wall mount and 30W power adapter ship in the box with universal screws and anchors for drywall installation.
The Echo Show 15 normally costs $300, but is on sale now at $255. The bundle covers the display, the Fire TV voice remote, the wall mount, the 30W power adapter, the 5-foot power cord, and the universal screws and anchors needed to mount the display in any kitchen, hallway, home office, or family room.
