Apple’s latest hardware reveal had exactly the side effects anyone would have expected: a sharp price drop on last year’s model. With the debut of the 2026 MacBook Air powered by the M5 chip, attention has shifted just enough for retailers to discount the 2025 MacBook Air with the M4 chip. Amazon is currently offering savings of up to 21%, knocking as much as $300 off the original price—one of the biggest reductions the laptop has seen since its release.
Though it’s been replaced in the lineup, the 2025 15-inch MacBook Air continues to stand out as a well-rounded machine. Weighing just 3.32 pounds, it remains easy to carry between home, office, or campus, while still delivering performance that satisfies most daily computing needs. Inside, Apple includes a 10-core CPU and up to a 10-core GPU, with configurations supporting as much as 24GB of unified memory. The M4 chip delivers a noticeable leap in speed compared to the older M1 version and leaves Intel-based Air models even further behind.
Everyday Performance
That extra power translates into smooth everyday use. Tasks like writing documents, managing spreadsheets, and running multiple browser tabs simultaneously feel responsive and consistent. Creative work also benefits, especially in areas like photo editing or light video production, where the improved graphics performance makes a difference.
Battery life remains a major strength. Apple estimates up to 18 hours on a single charge, which comfortably covers a full day of work or classes. Long stretches away from an outlet are far less stressful, making the laptop a practical choice for students and remote workers who find themselves moving between locations throughout the day.
Video calls and virtual meetings look and sound polished thanks to a 12MP front-facing camera capable of 1080p resolution and the three-microphone array. The mics help isolate your voice while reducing background noise, cutting down on the need for extra accessories.
The backlit keyboard supports comfortable typing in low-light settings, while Touch ID allows for quick logins and secure purchases. Two Thunderbolt ports provide flexibility for accessories and external displays, and the MagSafe charging connection adds a layer of safety by detaching cleanly if the cable gets pulled. Unlike iPhones, a headphone jack remains available for those sticking with wired audio.
The MacBook Air also benefits from being deep into Apple’s broader ecosystem. Features such as AirDrop, iMessage, and Handoff make it easy to move files, messages, and tasks between devices without interruption, which can streamline workflows for anyone already using an iPhone or iPad.
Several configurations are available. Oddly, the 16GB model with 256GB of storage and the 16GB model with 512GB of storage are now priced at $1,099. That’s a $300 discount on the 512GB and only a $100 discount on the 256GB. At this time, there’s really no good reason to choose the smaller of the two when you can just double your storage for the same price.
Color options include sky blue, silver, starlight, and midnight.
