The Apple AirTag helps you track your keys, purse, handbag, or even your luggage, so you can find items quickly if they’re lost. The latest AirTag model uses Apple’s second-generation Ultra Wideband technology for improved Precision Finding range. A built-in high-volume speaker also allows you to clearly hear the AirTag no matter how far down into a pillowcase or handbag it may be. AirTags work in conjunction with the Find My app and Apple’s extensive Find My network, and the AirTag has a long-lasting, user-replaceable battery that should last over a year.
A key-ring tracker with Precision Finding and a replaceable battery
Apple has created an extremely simple process for setting up and using an AirTag. Apple has added several features to its AirTags, including a second-generation Ultra Wideband chip, an improved Bluetooth connection, a built-in high-volume speaker, Precision Finding via both iPhone and Apple Watch, an IP67-rated enclosure, and a user-replaceable CR2032 battery, all in a small, round form factor.
With Precision Finding, you can see the approximate distance and direction to your AirTag on your iPhone or Apple Watch. In addition to showing where the AirTag is, you receive haptic, visual, and audible cues that guide you directly to it. The expanded range of Precision Finding lets you start tracking your item from farther away before it begins to home in. You can also use Precision Finding on your Apple Watch. With an Apple Watch Series 9 or later, or an Apple Watch Ultra 2 or later, and at least watchOS 26.2.1 installed, you can find your AirTag right from your wrist.
The high-volume speaker on the AirTag is loud enough that you can easily hear the chirp it emits when you initiate a sound through the Find My app. This can be especially helpful when you’re trying to locate items like keys that slipped behind the couch cushions or a wallet in another room.
Even when your item is outside your iPhone or iPad’s Bluetooth range, the Find My network can still help you locate it. Hundreds of millions of Apple devices worldwide can detect your AirTag anonymously and report its current location back to you, giving you a much better chance of finding it. While traveling, you can use your AirTag-equipped luggage’s current location with participating airlines. Participating airlines can then take steps to return your luggage as quickly as possible.
The AirTag carries an IP67 rating, providing protection against dust and water, so it withstands rain and spills without issue. The CR2032 battery included with each AirTag lasts longer than a year under normal use and can be replaced when it’s depleted.
Setting up an AirTag takes merely a few taps on your iPhone. Bring the AirTag close to your iPhone, and it pairs automatically. After pairing, simply name the AirTag and attach it to a key ring or bag. The Apple AirTag (2nd Generation) makes it easy for you to keep tabs on the important items in your life.
