Fine Art
Fine ArtFine Art is a celebration of the work of video game artists, showcasing the best of both their professional and personal portfolios. If you’re in the business and have some art you’d like to share, get in touch!

The latest Gears of War is out this week, so tonight we’ll take a look at a bunch of the art that went into the game’s conception and production.
Below you’ll see a collection of pieces, both 2D and 3D, from some of the artists involved in the game. It’s not everything from everyone, but it’s a nice variety to give you an idea of the kind of work that went into creating Gears 5.
You’ll find links to each artist’s portfolio in their names.

DISCUSSION
Even back on the Xbox 360 and with that generation’s hardware limitations, Sera has always had a very memorable architectural sensibility to it, at least starting with what’s left of Ephyra. The very, very high-end CG videos in the Ultimate Edition very much highlight that combination of neoclassical epic architecture with Gothic ‘COG’ undertones—if I had to describe it to a friend who’d never played the franchise before, I’d probably say “You know the epic neoclassical look you get in the more modern, grounded Final Fantasy cities? Imagine that, but overtly militarized, and instead of curvy naked women with wings, for architectural figureheads and badges, you get massive, buff naked dudes with wings.”
I’m very much amused by the Soviet-inspired U.I.R. space program, and I hope that appears somewhere in the latest game. Enjoying Gears 5 enormously, and that’s after a rather high bar set from Gears of War 4 (which to its credit, has Metacritic scores that reflect that).
