It’s been called Pokémon’s greatest mystery. Where is Ash’s father? There is one theory that Professor Oak is Ash’s dad. If you think that’s bonkers, then this theory is even more out there. What if Mr. Mime is really Mr. Ketchum? Silly, I know!

With Mr. Mime freaking out everyone with its Hollywood movie version, this seems as good a time as any to delve into the theory that the character is, in fact, Ash’s father, whether that’s his biological or stepfather.

This is one of the sillier Pokémon fan theories and variations have been circulating for ages.

For the love of...

This is right up there along with the whole “Giovanni is Ash’s dad,” “Butterfree is dead!,” and “Brock was raped by Professor Ivy” theories that pops up every now and again and it’s just as stupid as it ever was.

The ONLY thing we know about Ash’s dad was that it took him four days to get from Pallet Town to Viridian City when he started his Pokémon journey.

Also remember that Mr. Mime didn’t become a part of the household until 3/4 of the way through Kanto, where the gang ran into a wild Mr. Mime that a circus ringmaster wanted to catch to inspire her own lazy Mr. Mime, while the wild one ended up wandering in and being adopted by Delia.

Anyone who legitimately believes that bullshit theory is a fucking idiot.
