Pokémon Go Fans Seek To End Cross-Faction Hostility Via Team Harmony

A lovely bit of design work from DeviantArt’s Seoxys6 is quickly becoming the banner of Pokémon Go fans already tired of the senseless hostility brewing between teams Mystic, Instinct and Asking For It. Can’t we all just get along?

No. But it’s a wonderful dream, this Team Harmony. Seoxys6's depiction of a fourth, all-encompassing Pokémon Go team was accompanied by the following inspirational passage, possibly from the bible but an ancient prophecy from Pokémon the Movie 2000: The Power of One.

“Disturb not the harmony of Fire, Ice, or Lightning lest these three Titans wreck destruction upon the world in which they clash. Though the water’s Great Guardian shall arise to quell the fighting alone its song will fail. Thus the Earth shall turn to ash. O, Chosen One, into thine hands bring together all three.”

In the movie, Ash and his friends have to do something-something with Lugia in order to restore order to the other three legendary birds, Pokemon Go team mascots Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres. It makes sense then, that Lugia would be the mascot of a fourth Pokémon Go team, uniting the tribes and bringing balance with its song.

Portions of the prophecy are also used in the song “The Chosen One” from the B-52s, featured on the film’s soundtrack. As rallying cries go I suppose it’s on a level above “Love Shack” but doesn’t hold a candle to “Rock Lobster.”

Whatever the inspiration, Team Harmony is really taking off, mentioned on Twitter, trending on Facebook, and generally popping up to ruin things whenever a perfectly good battle between Team Mystic and Valor breaks out.

Can Team Harmony, now available on t-shirts and other merchandise, put an end to the eternal conflict that’s been going on as long this week as we can remember? History tells us that humanity was once made up of roving tribes, waging war over territoty, until one day a magic bird arrived and everything was okay forever. So yeah, probably.
