The movie Aliens scared me almost as much as the first film back when I was a kid. Alien Vs. Predator wasn’t so bad as I was much older and immune to fear, at least until Alien: Isolation proved otherwise. Now all three are digital pinball tables. These I can handle.
The Aliens Vs. Pinball pack for Zen Pinball 2 and Pinball FX 2 arrives on PlayStations, Xboxen, PC and mobile tomorrow, with three tables representing a fair cross-section of the Aliens movie and gaming universe.
We’ve got Aliens, based on a movie that defined science fiction horror action for a generation, mixing heart-stopping fear with exhilarating action.
A massive alien queen serves as fitting backdrop for the table, a very mission-oriented affair that allows players to choose between random mission order or movie mission order. The voice of Private Hudson sporadically bursts forth with catchphrases. When the game is over, the appropriate line plays. That’s all I was really looking for, and I got it.
The Alien Vs. Predator table made me realize how much I’d forgotten about the crossover movie event. Was it really a combination of Alien, Predator and Nickelodeon’s Legends of the Hidden Temple?
I guess it was.
Finally we have Alien: Isolation, based on the game I could not play because I am a weak man who is easily frightened by interactive entertainment.
Folks who have played the game can jump to 7:41 in the video at the top of the post and tell me how well it pays homage to whatever it was you people were doing in a dark spaceship filled with murderous xenomorphs.
I never would have come out of that vent. Vent life! #TeamVent.
The Alien Vs. Pinball pack for Pinball FX 2 and Zen Pinball 2 should be available for iOS, Android, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PC, Vita, Mac and particularly powerful toasters tomorrow, just in time for Alien Day.
