Ironside Malphite Skin Turns League Of Legends' Rock Monster Into A Pirate Ship

League of Legends’ stone golem creature Malphite is known as a rock monster, an animate mountain, and an “earth elemental.” Now with the power of premium skins, he’s become what looks like a Transformer that can turn into...a pirate ship?

Well, he can’t actually switch back and forth between pirate ship and anthropomorphized autobot-esque warrior. But the new “Ironside Malphite” skin, which looks it should’ve made it into League during this summer’s pirate-themed “Bilgewater: Burning Tides” event, is still pretty darn cool. Take a look at some more skin pics captured by the popular League of Legends news site Surrender at 20:

The first thing that popped into my head when I saw this new skin was the pirate ship kart from Mario Kart 8—my other main gaming obsession:

Which actually makes even more sense than I originally thought it did, since a) the pirate ship kart is a great kart to use when racing with heavy-weight king Bowser (and now Dry Bowser), and b) Malph is one of the closest things League of Legends has to a Bowser character.
