Earlier this week we met the cast of Star Wars Episode VII, an intriguing mix of old and new faces. Now it's up to our Photoshop-savvy readers to take those actors and put them into some Star Wars.
We could leave it up to J.J. Abrams, but he has important lens flares to place, so the task falls to those who know more than one Photoshop filter to get the job done. In case you missed the cast announcement post, here's who you have to work with:
Actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow will join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker in the new film.
Your task is simple: take one or more of those actors, and dunk them into them there Star Wars. You can put them into films, cartoons or video games, create speculative action figures — knock yourself out. The only rule is that the images of the actors you use (Google search, IMDB, etc.) have to be relatively recent. We want old Harrison Ford, post-Joker Mark Hamill and completely rusted Anthony Daniels.
I'm sensing a little fear in you, but that's okay. Fear is great. You should totally give in to it. Maybe toss in a little hate. Oh, and may the force be with you or whatever.
Not sure how to upload images? Follow these simple steps and you'll soon be uploading pictures to the internet like a pro.
1. Create your 'Shop and save it to your desktop.
2. Go to the bottom of this post
3. This brings up a comment window. Click
4. This brings up Click "Choose file" if you're uploading your 'shop from your desktop
5. Alternatively, you can upload the 'Shop to a free image hosting service. I suggest imgur. Then paste the image's URL into the field that says "Image URL." Note: this must be the URL of the image itself, not the page where it is displayed. That means the URL ends in .jpg, .gif, .png, whatever.
6. Add editorial commentary and hit submit and your image will load. If it doesn't, upload the image to imgur and paste the image URL as a comment. I promise I will look at it.
7. Large-size images may not upload properly, though we have seen some big-ass animated .gifs upwards of 5 MB. If you're still having trouble uploading the image, try to keep its longest dimension (horizontal or vertical) under 1000 pixels, or the whole thing under 2 MB.
LET'S DO THIS IN ALL CAPS.
