Steampunk games that feature steam-powered machines and settings in an alternate history of the Wild West or the industrialized British era of the 19th century are rare. Maybe even rarer than cyberpunk titles.
A decade and a half ago a sublime blend of Eastern role-playing and Wild Western adventure was released in Japan. Today the talented folks at OC Remix celebrate that release with a free album featuring more than four hours of expertly twisted tunes from the soundtrack of the original Wild Arms.
From Square Enix and the developers Wild Arms comes Chaos Rings, an iPhone game that looks like it could be the first great 3D Japanese RPG on the platform, with production values on par with PlayStation-era Final Fantasy titles.
