Sony's PlayStation 3 enjoys its second week atop the pile of consoles being sold in Japan, another 50,000-plus new owners enjoying fresh copies of Hokuto no Ken and Yakuza 4, the country's current bestselling games.
It's followed closely by the PSP, which gets a big week-to-week boost, according to Media Create. In fact, pretty much every console saw an increase in its weekly numbers, even the generally poor performing PSPgo. The digital download-only go performs a rare feat outselling at least one other console this week. (Sure it debuted strong, but the PSPgo has been idling at the bottom of the charts for months.)
The pie chart is pretty much Sony's this week, overtaking the Wii and DS platform. The latter comes pretty close to matching the PSP's numbers this week when combined, but not enough to claim victory. Here are the numbers for March 22 to 28.
- PlayStation 3 - 50,448
- PSP - 46,449
- Wii - 36,849
- Nintendo DSi LL - 23,188
- Nintendo DSi - 17,376
- Nintendo DS Lite - 4,995
- Xbox 360 - 3,002
- PSP go - 1,874
- PlayStation 2 - 1,785
