Battlefield Players Keep Finding Weird Mysteries, Including A Yeti

Forget shooting. One of the most interesting aspects of Battlefield—aside from the incredible large scale moments you can experience while playing—are all the curious easter eggs and alternate reality games that players keep finding.

First there was the Battlefield 3 easter egg nobody has found. Then, there was a frantic search for a hidden mythical megalodon. We can't forget the dinosaurs and futuristic easter eggs, too. And now that there's new DLC for Battlefield 4, players are finding all sorts of weird things. Take, for instance, the Kevin Simpson 1942 mystery at the heart of this first video by Jack Frags. Players not only found a locker with that specific name in the DLC, they also found a website and even a specific Battlefield player named Kevin Simpson 1942.

There's also a ton of possible clues surrounding Kevin Simpson, though nobody has any clue as to what the alternate reality game is hinting at. For now, it's obvious everything is connected/intentional—the Kevin Simpson website is registered to a DICE employee. Other than that...man, what in the world does this mystery point to? That riddle/poem of sorts is especially intriguing.

There's also a Yeti easter egg that players have found—if you stand in a specific spot on Goldmud Railway and shoot at a flashing light, you hear a pained wail coming from the mountains. Players say its a yeti.

I'm kind of amazed at how badly players want to find mythical creatures in games like Battlefield, GTA or Red Dead Redemption—and happy to find that developers are feeding that hunger. It's stuff like this that keeps games interesting.
