Gothic 4 Is Looking Rather Gorgeous Lately

Seeing as I forgot anyone was working on a fourth entry in the Gothic series, I'm pleasantly surprised to see these screenshots for Arcania: Gothic 4 looking as fine as they do.

To get myself up to speed, with original Gothic developer Piranha Bytes moving on to Risen, European developer Spellbound Entertainment stepped in to create Arcania: Gothic 4. Set ten years after the first three games, a new nameless hero sets forth to settle an old score with King Robar the Third, who just happens to be the nameless hero from the previous titles.

"Implementing a new main character is not just a consistent continuation of the given storyline, but it also allows us to add new ideas and concepts to the game," says Clemens Schneidhofer, PR Coordinator with JoWooD Entertainment. "Seeing your old hero as an apparently mad King, is a stimulating twist to the storyline of the Gothic saga as we see it. Players will need to be careful whom they trust … Gothic has always been known for its unpredictable story line."

And it's peeing, but that's neither here nor there. Arcania: Gothic 4 is due out this fall for the Xbox 360. PlayStation 3, and PC from DreamCatcher (North America) and JoWood (Europe).
