The official E3 Media & Business Summit has laid out its plans for this year's show, which returns to the Los Angeles Convention Center and is now confirmed to be completely devoid of off-topic spectacle. E3's past used to fill South, West, Petree, Concourse and Kentia Halls, but E3 2008 will occupy just the Concourse Hall, a massive scaling back of space. E3 exhibitors will still occupy meeting rooms in other halls, but to say that E3 is but a mere shadow of its previous incarnations wouldn't be inaccurate, as the bigger booths shown above occupy a 20' by 20' area.
We'll sure miss the booth babe photo ops. Again. For the full list of attendees, which is not represented well by the map above, make the jump.

So, hang on. Is it returning to a more mainstream form where average people can go, or is it still invitation only?
I'm sorry but E3's time has passed. This is the internet age where pretty much ALL information is immediately available and secrets are at a minimum. Just doesn't have the effect it used to.
When is E3 again?
@Mustakrakish: Invite-only
MTV!? FOX GTFO RIGHT NOW! no team ICO :( maybe at TGS well heres to hoping for some news on FF13,eight days,uncharted 2,zoe3,infamous and killer instinct 3
@Kingofblades2278:
july 15-17 longs way away
Sure looks small... They could probably hold that event in my school's gymnasium.
Funny how they put Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo all in close proximity to eachother.
Average people were never allowed; only industry, journalists, and retail people were allowed. We had to spin a ball of yarn about being "video game bloggers". Then we had to get down on our knees and earn our way behind the 'closed doors'.
@Kingofblades2278:
double post maybe but july 15-17
Glad to see E3 scale down. It was getting too damn big and, every year it would just get bigger and bigger.
@mva5580: That's not true. We may get information ahead of time when it comes to certain things, but E3 has proven to reveal things that have never before been release through the internet.
What's toshiba showing off? It looks like they have a pretty big booth. At least compared to others like Capcom, midway, square, etc.
@mva5580: While I understand what your saying, E3 is still a fun, exciting moment. Companies try to keep things secret till then and if things get leaked, it's often close to E3 anyways. Also, it's a great time to see new footage and live-feeds of games that you could not get elsewhere. I'm excited to see some new Gears and Fable stuff...also that rumored new DS...
@mva5580: i was about to agree, but then i remembered my less information inclined friends. most of the information they get about gaming comes from E3 reports. other than that, i am the only person within thirty miles that really knows what is getting released and when.
Wait Fox? Really? And right next to Take2.
@Kenny:
They want to try and host a Ultimate Fighting Championship between the three.
What kind of murder simulators does Fox make? Something involving Nancy Grace, I hope!
You would think that they would have switch Disney's and Sony's booths around so Sony could be between his its buddies KONAMI and SOE.
Suppose this isn't like school cafeteria seating though.
Why does this use such old tired logos?
I havent seen that Sony logo since 2001, never seen the MTVG logo, or the "new" take two logo.
Also, what the hell are crave and natsume?
And since when is Toshiba making games? Trying to sell excess HD-DVD extensions for 360?
Microsoft next to Konami? Metal Gear Solid 4 on 360 confirmed! lolol
@LittleBigPlaneteer: hahaha
@spoonytrain:
Is there any other logo for SCEA?
MTV Games has a pretty big booth. Hopefully that means we have some awesome harmonix news coming up.
I'm actually interested in this E3. Contrary to mva5580's belief, I don't think that E3's time has passed. All those developer's complaining about how E3 made then feel like they had to one-up each other is BS in my mind. E3 needs to adapt but not to the point where you shut the fans out. I thought the point of E3 was to let people play the games, but hey, I got faith, they'll figure it out.
@Clarke:
They don't have to run far for a horror story about some crazy crack-addicted teens going on shooting rampages anymore.
Now it's right next door when they peek through at Take 2's TVs.
Yawn, so boring. E3 is a waste of time now.
Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft...Mtv? Eeeenteresting.
Wonder how much they had to pony up to be right in there with the big 3?
Ooh I'm so excited! Come on MS, another price cut? Please?
@VishusBurn:
Yeah I think Sony should've been in MS' spot too. Konami might not be too important since MGS4 will be out before E3 but having them closer to Square-Enix would be a huge plus
Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft right next to eachother?? o__o oh boy.
Take 2 and FOX right next to each other? Publicity stunt confirmed!
@mexfreak86:
That's what made it awesome...
E3 was alot better when it was more consumer oriantated, when any regular joe could buy a ticket and go, none of this strictly for the press.
E3 is dead and insignificant now. They should stop fiddling with it's corpse.
Ugh. looking at the floor plan really makes me depressed...
Toshiba.. MTV? But I'm happy to see Tecmo! I can't wait to see Team Ninjas next game. DOA5 or Heavens Forbid Code Chronos.
Wow, EA is gonna look like **** next to Sony and Nintendo.
@Jamaces:
Are you kidding me? It was never supposed to be for the consumer anyway. That was a misconception. People thought "customer" meant consumer when in reality it means the CUSTOMERS of Microsoft, sony, nintendo etc. Which is Walmart, gamestop, target and other retail stores.
Old E3 was retarded as hell. Neon lights, loud music, and booth babes.
@Sailorcancer:
I really wanna know what Toshiba is showing off, but MTV does make sense. They have their own game studio.
MTV please get out you allready messed up the music scene please not game scene, and FOX go narc somewhere else, just noticed the Konami floor cant wait what they have to supise us ZOE3??
@Jamaces:
i would like to know exactly when "Joe Somebody" could go and buy a ticket to E3? As far as i know it was all game related business types and game journalists. The only "average joes" that could go were like some GA's and a manager from GameStop/EB
I dont get it... Sony Computer Entertainment and Sony Online Entertainment? Why not just have one big booth and put the sony label on it?
@CCCombobreaker: Does this mean Toshiba has it's own game studio now? I'm confused...
@Kenny: With Nintendo in the middle, cause... you know.
Seems like E3 just doesn't really matter anymore.
Oh wait...
@king0v10GU: Yes, MTV Games. Those are the people that own Harmonix, just so you know.
I like how EA is far removed from Take2
And why is FOX there? Christ must they spill their evil everywhere?
I think it's kinda sad that this is the new face of E3, I miss the videos and pictures of this ribald game-geek fantasy land filled with booze, bright lights, loud music and hawt wimmenz.
Konami next to Microsoft, hehe.
@Americo: Uhm since when does MTV own Harmonix? Check your resources...
@Knuckles7: Since September 22, 2006.
[kotaku.com]
In September 2006, MTV Networks announced that it was acquiring Harmonix on behalf of MTV for $175 million.[7] Harmonix's last Guitar Hero game for RedOctane, Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s, was released in July 2007, thus fulfilling their contractual obligations with the publisher.
@Michael McWhertor: Haha thats a good resource :D
Do you think the guys from the EA booth will visit the T2 booth for some good ole takeover talk?
Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo all within a stone's throw of each other. I hope a fight breaks out.
Too late ESA. I'm more interested in PAX these days. At least they care about the people who make this industry even possible: the gamers.
@king0v10GU: Actually Team Ico is part of Sony so they're actually there assuming SCEI wants to show it off.
