Wow, whu happa? When did Crash become so thugly? 0_o
:'( When did Crash get a Mowhawk and Tribal tatoos what happened to Crash from the PSX days I miss him...
"Pre-order now"
LOL. Whatever you say, lady.
I hope RUSTY WALRUS is in this game!!!! He' was my favorite Crash Character!!!!
"Come back here naughty meat!! LOL!!!!"
Crash bandicoot was awesome on the PS1 [including CTR, it was better than mario cart], but then it began to get sucky, following the PS2 and multiplatform releases...
Is it just me or was she always talking about Crash getting jacked up with the creatures. Ah...that must be why Crash is so freaky nowadays.
i'm sorry but Crash never did it for me.
@GUNDAM-RX-78-2: He basically turned into Sonic.
I don't understand.
They're smart enough to be doing some smart things, like not over using gestures and trying to make great graphics on Wii.
But they're not smart enough to realize that a lot of people didn't like the concept of Titans, and this is essentially the same game.
I do not want to "jack" enemies, I do not want to upgrade the enemies and I don't want to put them in my pocket to forge a relationship with them.
I want to play as Crash.
They've really succeeded at stripping Crash of any glory he had left and making him into the poor man's Sonic, who is already the under dog and poor man's platformer.
Crash and Sonic are two washed up characters no thanks to the "new" devs that handle their IP's ;_;
On a side note, her faces reminds me of Tom Dickinson (from the blendtec blender channel on youtube) xD
Did I miss something... Crash was the mascot character for Sony in the PS1 days and the new game is on every system but the PS3?!?
A note to the current developers: While you are upgrading Crash's looks and moves, how about the game mechanics? The long levels, sporadic checkpoints and lack of a retry made for many frustrating moments for my wife in the last game. She finally gave up after 5 or 6 hours.
I'd hazard a guess that the majority of people still playing this series are kids and people who liked the game on PS1, so the old school difficulty and lack of retries only serves to frustrate your core audience.
Also, if she's talking about how nobody has really spent any time trying to render appropriately with the Wii, she obviously hasn't seen the vid at this link. (sorry, I don't know how to embed vids in a Kotaku post yet...)

Crash Bandicoot, unfournately, is just not the same series as it was when Naughty Dog developed it. Not the same series.
Crash of the Titans wasn't such a bad game. Its a nice break from my other games, although the only thing that ticks me off about it was that some of the achievements aren't worth *5 or *0 points. Having weird achievement point numbers that don't end in 5 or 0 are just wrong. Unless its really easy to get a few achievements to balance them out.
All aboard the Crash Bandicoot train ride offering non-stop service to Straight Into the Ground! Just let a decent franchise go for now. At least in the future you could probably make more money from it by "resurrecting" it if you don't bury a good name right now. Look at what Capcom is doing with Bionic Commando. Take a hint please.
Btw, I was playing the Crash Bandicoot demo for the 360 when it RRoD'd. Sort of ironic with a name like Crash.
Does anybody else think it'll be a fad now after Jade Raymond to throw in a woman speaking to us about games, because we geeks who never see women must buy a game after we hear someone like Jade say, "...and the shading and lighting techniques of Altair are great as he's fighting".
This woman didn't look very enthused about talking about Crash. Not very happy at all.
So let me get this straight, it's on the:
Wii, PS2, 360, PSP, and DS?
Yeah, fuck these guys for their PS3 hate
Crash Bandicoot was mediocre at best. He was basically an amalgam of every other mascot packaged into one, and for some reason it didn't work.
Also, what the heck is with 'jacking' people?
This game will either be sensational or fall flat on it's face and be forgotten forever. Skipping the PS3 won't be helping it much either, but that's a completely different issue.
That's not Crash :(
I personally agree with the consensus, this isn't the Crash that made many of us fall in love with the character on PS1.
It sounds more like some crazy Castlevania game on paper then a Crash Bandicoot game, and Castlevania at least has atmosphere ...
Funny how she mentioned something related to PS3 and Wii, but Crash isn't even available for the PS3. Though, I can understand why Crash isn't available for the PS3. PS3 is bought by hardcore gamers and DVD hardcore owners, and they are NOT people who buy Crash. Kiddie games haven't fared well on the PS3.
@mcool93: Um... if they're not making it for Ps3 for your reasoning of PS3 being a hardcore gamers machine, then they certainly wouldn't be making it for the 360.
I think it has more to do with them assuming people can play the PS2 version via backwards compatibility. I know some can and some can't, but that might be the logic there.
@Dude From Dubai: I agree with CTR...phenomenal game, and certainly my pick over Mario Kart. Not to rile fanboys (God, I hate these disclaimers!), but it just worked for me more than Mario Kart.
More Kart games, I say.
taking crash "back to his roots"
yeah...
the only radical game where i want to 'jack' enemies is prototype, thank you.
She's not the best when it comes to finishing a sale. "Its coming on.....ps2, wii, 360..... and its coming out on the ds and psps..... coming out in the fall....preorder now..?
The video said her name was Kirsten, not Kristen.
It's a shame (and puzzling) how Naughty Dog abandoned Crash after his PSX outings and let less-capable, outside developers take over and ruin the franchise.
I know ND were working on their new title: Jak and Daxter, but why wouldn't they want two in-house brands?
I'm still in disbelief that they are still making Crash games. Thinking that there is still some life left in this series, well there isn't. Crash hasn't been in a good game in over a decade. He is an irrelevant character in a irrelevant franchise, just let it die now.
I actually really liked the visual redesign of Crash and the environments, (and spontaneously "surfing") but other than that, the last Crash Game--Crash of the Titans--was garbage. As if we needed more of a reason to dislike Crash, the developers at Sierra decided to make him more obnoxious by having him incoherently babble like a retard-with-his-tongue-stuck-to-a-pole in every un-skippable cut scene.
I actually hadn't played any of the Crash games since Crash 3 on the original PSX, but CotT had some good ideas; it just feels like they gave up on trying to be fun or original in any way, mid-way through it.
They seriously expect you to derive some pleasure out of jacking and fighting the same respawning, cheap monsters over and over again.
Unlike real-life, "jacking" gets old really quickly, especially considering the 10+ monsters are essentially just repaints of the same three or four concepts.
@Dude From Dubai:
You basically mean it went bad after Naughty Dog sold off the Franchise
The Spyro franchise was my platformer of choice on the PSOne. Crash was okay too, but I never found his character very endearing. I haven't even picked up any of the post-ps1 Crash games, maybe I'll give titans a shot and see how it stacks up.
@Wolfers: Trust me, just ignore Titans and get this game. This game controls better.
Yep, spyro was one of my favs too, it was both of these games which suffered in the switch over to PS2 - probubly why i was never a fan of the system. This happened mainly because of the game properties being removed from their original developers oftan due to publishers.
By the sounds of this interview they cant be further from what made crash a great game to play, they've removed simple game play and good hummor and replaced it with gimmicky moves that dont work and noone cares for - Sonic syndrome.
The art ASSets being used in this and the previous games are simply terrible. This platformer still has both feet in last gen and is just peeking into next gen... they need to stop counting on that PS2 honey and drink the next-gen (now-gen) Koolaid!
You wanna make a good Crash game that stays true to its' roots? Make it a platformer, no unnecessary combat system, no redesigning the look of Crash, good music, no voice for Crash, keep with the 3D on rails sort of theme (like the first game), bring back Cortex, fuck all the stupid characters no one cared about, have good writers bring good humour to the game, and don't feel the need to somehow make Crash "hip" and "cool" for gamers of today! Just make it a good game.
@kylo4: You do realize that women actually do work in the gaming industry, right?
