Following a fresh batch of screens this morning, more Motorstorm 2 details are emerging from the Sony PlayStation Day in London, where Sony's Paul Hollywood was on hand to deliver the goods on the new title. Now called Motorstorm: Pacific Rift, the entire game takes place on a tropical island, complete with waterfalls, volcanoes, and vegetation that will hinder smaller vehicles while the large ones crush it beneath their wheels. The game will double the number of tracks from the first game, bringing the number to a much more respectable 16. You'll be able to drive through streams to cool your engine, adding a bit of strategy to the mix, while the addition of monster trucks to the franchise will certainly cause problems for those who prefer the lightweight, crushable motorbikes. On the multiplayer side of things, the game will support split screen multiplayer as well as 16-player online races. See the nifty things you can accomplish when your game isn't rushed out the door?

@PapaBear434:
Now I know how those price is right contestants feel when somebody bids $1 over them, lol
@Sparx: LOL,thats a classic analogy:)
Finaly, a non-rushed Motorstorm. This game will rock.
@SlowDeath420:
ehh... I have my moments =)
Looks like someones monster truck is in bad need of alignment, and having a motocross bike pried out of it's undercarriage.
The setting sounds cool and YAY split screen multiplayer!
@Zazu_Yen: Yeah, that girl is gonna die.
Isn't driving through streams to cool your engine from Excite Truck?
Have to say though a none rushed Motorstorm would be really good. The first was a joke. 8tracks? Even as a rental that isn't great value for money -_-
Sounds pretty good so far.
That picture is funny though, looks like a girl in a swimswuit yet wearing a helmet, elbow pads and knee pads lol. Just seems silly. Bare legs riding through jungle? O.o;
Fantastic.
With the promise of 4 player splitscreen and 16 tracks, in addition to an even better racing setting than the first game, this has just become a must buy for me. Thankfully, this is the only racing game that intrigues me so far. It's not like 40 other insane games are coming out this year. O wait......
@Zim: "he first was a joke. 8tracks? Even as a rental that isn't great value for money -_-"
Yeah that's why I always HATED Tetris. Only 7 block types? Two of which were simple mirrors of others? What a damn rip-off.
@Zazu_Yen: Yet it had a ton of levels ;)
I always like the idea of racing games, but never seem to really enjoy actually playing them, but this is looking really interesting to me.
It does seem like devs are able to spend a bit more time now on the PS3 stuff, with very nice results.
release date yet?
This will be some great splitscreen fun
all I needed to hear were the words splitscreen... and I did... ^^
nice. i still play the original motorstorm, and with the dlc support it's gotten i expect good things with ms2.
@Zazu_Yen: Great comeback, that should be comment of the day for sure!
Your comparison is great though. MotorStorm did not have a lot of tracks, but the tracks were huge and had so many ways to play them. Cannot wait for the sequel, I just hope the online is not region restricted again...
Motorstorm 2 looks like it will become the party racer of choice in my house now we can rock the splitscreen action.
I hope they even out the truly insane difficulty curve that punished you harder then Mario Mart on the last levels too
16 tracks?? Hey Motorstorm, Mario Kart Wii wants to have a word with you...
In all seriousness, if they allowed ot spend the time on this game that it deserves, it should blow away the original easily.
@Zazu_Yen: Wow. I have never heard anyone diss Tetris beefore. I hope you were being sarcastic.
I could have sworn I heard that title before. I have no idea where...maybe on X-Play....I'm not kidding!
This one should be worth picking up to play.
Sooo... they're taking Motorstorm one, adding all the mechanics from Excite Truck to it, and calling it Motorstorm two?
Fair enough, I suppose.
Split-screen network game would be cool. Sit with a friend and race against 14 other players seems like a good idea to me =)
