Valve, pick up this kid, buy the rights to this map pack, release it on XBLA and you'll guarantee a purchase from me. The 2D flash version is what got me into the game at first, which ultimately led me to buy The Orange Box for the 360 and TF2 for PC.

I've been playing for a little bit, and I've gotten stuck a few times, but I think it's great how they've managed to recreate both the feel of the original Portal and the Flash version. It brings in new obstacles from the Flash version, along with new signs. GLaDOS is in it, but only with recycled lines. Apparently, it is actually set before Portal and it is supposed to connect Portal to the rest of the Half-Life world moreso than before, which is cool and all, but I don't give it any stock, seeing as how it's not Valve.

Oh, and if you play both the Flash version and this one together, you'll see some levels that match up, but they flesh the ideas to work well in 3D. I was skeptical at first, but they really made it work.

i just played through this. If you loved portals, you will need to change your pants after this.

Only problem is, everyone knows this a free like every other mod on PC.

The "premium" mindset of getting levels directly from the developers are gone seeing how this 'free' map pack came from a 3rd party group. Yes, there are gearbox and there are Kaos, but thats rare.

There is no mass market appeal for it on the console. Unless this guy was picked up by Valve BEFORE releasing the pack and redubbing the release as a DLC map pack for Portal on the console.

They are not going to invest in a level editor who can churn out only a few thousand downloads.

Good for PC gamers as the rule set in stone for community support is further emphasized by an excellent mappack. Consolers will cry afoul when they have to pay 800 rupees for it.

Any love for the 360? Guess not.

As much as I don't like to complain about something this awesome and this free, why in God's name did they put the original GlaDOS dialogue in there? I wish I could find a way to turn it off.

Wow, it's really good, I've been playing it for the last hour, and it's been rather amazing.

However, I'm completely stuck at the part with the two companion cubes blocking the pipe. Can't figure a way to get past them or push them down from the top...

From the little I've played so far, this is quite enjoyable. The puzzles include fast reflexes and Glados is still taking you through the tests, even though they are recordings from Portal.

Downloaded it yesterday and at lvl 33 right now, playing few lvls at the time. its very good. And harder than origian which is good, cause original was way to easy. I played the flash version like a month ago, it was very nice back then, as I dont really like to play flash/browser games this one kept me busy for a while. So good job to those guys that made it. :)

I definitely did not die this many times during the original Portal. This is hard as hell, but I'm loving it.

Looks like i'll have to bide my time till my friend gets this...then of course kick him off his own computer so I can play it like the last Portal.

So, the flash game designed around the trailers for Portal, has become a downloadable map-pack for portal? All it needs now is for SHIFT to be converted into a portal level and the world will end.

OK, I have to say this to inform those who are interested. This DOES WORK w/o having Steam and Half Life 2, even though the devs say it is required. My friend was extremely disappointed, until I installed it anyway and it worked.

I beat Portal on both platforms and it was even more fun the second time through on the PS3...I loved the effects they added to the lighting and toxic sludge

Download now and play on my current system, or wait until I rebuild with quad core power to download and play...

This is dreamy. Can't wait to play it when I get home. The original game was a well-balanced puzzle and action game, but after I was done I definitely wanted some more of the puzzle bits.

OK ok ok ok ok, I'll buy Portal off steam even though I have the orange box on 360. FINE. I get it. Great fun. OK jeez

Unfortunately, a lot of the puzzles require stuff like crouch-jumping in mid-air after a big portal hop (starting on stage 2), which feels very strange in the context of portal - a game I've never had to do that in. Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure you didn't have to crouch-jump in the flash game, either.

Also, I got terrible vertigo and almost threw up after playing this last night. A lot of the flash concepts don't transfer so flawlessly to first-person, in my opinion.

@kidko: If I were you, I'd probably just download a pirated version. You've already paid for it once.

I just finished it. It was awesome. You'd definately recognize some scenes from the original 2D version, but for the most part, it's very original, especially after the cake room. I don't want to spoil anything, but I will say there is a special vehicular cameo from HL2:E2. Also, the boss will take a few tries, but you'll get it eventually if you're quick and can figure out what to do. And it has a fantastic ending.

Picked up the Orange Box last week & am now installing & updating as I type. Now that I finally have a legit copy of the game I can play without missing graphics or guilt.

Be nice if they told you what Steam is or what it's for before requiring you to install it tho'.
