Some supplementary information provided as part of Nintendo's latest financial results has got something interesting tucked away amidst all the chest-beating: global home console sales data for 2010.
That's data for all three home console platform holders across the United States, Europe and Japan from January 2010 until around September.
What's interesting is that, considering the figures were published by Nintendo, about the only conclusive thing they show is a global and sustained decline in Wii sales. There are a few other patterns - the Xbox 360's surge in the US, the PS3 picking up in Europe and Nintendo not even bothering to include Microsoft's console in Japanese figures - but that Wii drop-off is simply the most obvious and important of the lot.
