While we're still a week out from the October 25 release of Batman: Arkham Origins for consoles and PC, the free-to-play mobile game is alive and kicking. Also punching. Watch.
Obviously not the same as the console experience, the iOS version of Batman: Arkham Origins does have thugs to punch and assassins to wrestle with, so the general idea is there. Netherrealm Studios (of Mortal Kombat fame) flexes the mobile muscles it used to create the free-to-play tie-in for Injustice: Gods Among Us, delivering beefy Batman beating beefy thugs against beefy backdrops, one mission at a time.
The main impetus to play this, aside from the Batman Beyond costume, is cross console unlocks — connecting this game to the proper version unlocks additional content of some sort. That's a thing the kids like these days.
It's not a bad little game. A bit repetitive, but the visuals are nice, and all of those empty batsuit slots beg to be filled with hot armor.
Batman: Arkham Origins is now available on iOS, with the Android version coming somewhere down the line.
