The remastered mobile version of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 arrives on iOS and Android today, bringing with it a zone famously scrapped during the original game's development — the Hidden Palace Zone is hidden no more.

Along with upgraded widescreen graphics and a new Boss Attack Mode, Sega's remastered Sonic the Hedgehog 2 gives fans their first chance to run through the Hidden Palace level of the game. The Hidden Palace was originally developed as a special zone where Sonic would travel after collecting all seven Chaos Emeralds to transform into Super Sonic, but the game was changed to give him that ability from the start, so the level was scrapped.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is available today on iTunes and Google Play for $2.99.
