GameFront, the long-serving portal for mod and patch downloads which has existed in one form or another since 1999, will close down on April 30.
Founded as FileLeech, and once also a major destination for demo downloads, the closure was announced in a post on the site yesterday. GameFront was bought a few years back by a Defy Media, who shut down another of their sites, GameTrailers, in February.
As Gamasutra notes, staff are trying to work out a deal with Defy where the forums and files can be saved, though they warn “The chances of this are pretty low, however, so I don’t want you guys to get your hopes up”.
